International Consultations and Future Negotiations
Zelensky emphasized that after the meeting of advisors, negotiations will occur at the level of state leaders. These are set to take place on January 6 in France. Preparations for these meetings are ongoing in collaboration with international partners, including the United States and France.
“Just now, Rustem Umerov reported on the agreement with the national security advisors of the Coalition of the Willing about a meeting very soon. We are planning for January 3 in Ukraine,” he wrote in a telegram.
Outcomes of the Negotiations and U.S. Participation
It is worth noting that on December 29, lengthy negotiations took place in Florida between U.S. President Donald Trump and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. The conversation lasted over two hours, after which both leaders held phone consultations with several European leaders.
As a result of these negotiations, Zelensky reported that all key aspects of the peace framework were discussed and significant results were achieved. The President also emphasized that the teams from the U.S. and Ukraine will meet next week to finalize the discussed issues regarding security guarantees.
French President Emmanuel Macron, who participated in the negotiations, noted the progress in reaching agreements on security guarantees that could serve as the foundation for a just and lasting peace. Macron announced that representatives from the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ countries will gather in Paris at the beginning of January to finalize each state’s specific contribution to the joint efforts.
