Recognition Among Allies and Assessments by Defense Ministers
“This received a lot of applause – the operation was recognized as brilliantly executed. It demonstrated that Ukraine is capable of delivering precise strikes against Russia, particularly against Russian military targets. More specifically – against that part of the Russian armed forces that conducts strikes against Ukrainian civilians. Bombers and other aircraft were destroyed. And, undoubtedly, we see this as a new phase for Ukraine in this war and on the path to achieving lasting peace,” said Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur in an exclusive comment.
Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans emphasized that the ‘Web’ operation once again proved Ukraine’s ability to exceed the expectations of its allies and to employ creative approaches to warfare. According to him, stable support for Ukraine will contribute to new achievements in the fight for freedom.
Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovilė Šakalienė noted that this operation took place on her birthday, making it particularly special news for her.
Details of the Operation and Confirmed Losses of the Russian Federation
According to NATO estimates, losses in Russian strategic aviation amount to about 34% of missile carriers. Alliance representatives described this operation as one of the most successful by Ukraine throughout the full-scale war.
The ‘Web’ operation took place on June 1: Ukrainian drones attacked several Russian military airfields. Drones hidden in modular houses set up on truck platforms were used for this purpose. According to the Security Service of Ukraine, over 40 Russian military aircraft were destroyed, and preparations for the operation lasted a year and a half.
The results of the attack are confirmed by video footage and satellite images, which independently recorded the destruction of at least 11 Russian strategic bombers.
