A New Border Crossing Point Opened in Ukraine on the Border with Hungary

В уряді повідомили про відкриття нового пункту пропуску на кордоні з Угорщиною

A new border crossing point named “Velika Palad’ – Nodhgodos” has been opened in Ukraine on the border with Hungary. This point, designed for vehicle and passenger traffic, was launched on April 8. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

This is reported by Kyiv24

Shmyhal noted that the new point will significantly increase the annual capacity of the Ukrainian-Hungarian section of the western border, exceeding 70,000 passenger cars and 220,000 pedestrians. In a telegram, he wrote:

“It will increase the annual capacity of the Ukrainian-Hungarian section of the western border by more than 70,000 passenger cars and 220,000 pedestrians”

.

Olexiy Kuleba, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, emphasized that this is the first new point on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border in decades. He stated:

“The point has been launched with temporary infrastructure – this allowed for the quick implementation of the project. In the future, a full-fledged crossing point will be built here”

.

The new crossing point is intended for passenger cars weighing up to 3.5 tons. It will operate daily from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM and will have two lanes for entry and exit. It is expected that up to 200 vehicles and 600 pedestrians will be able to cross it daily.

It is worth noting that the opening of the new point was agreed upon by Ukraine and Hungary back in April of last year. Previously, there were five vehicle crossing points on the border with Hungary, with trucks weighing over 7.5 tons allowed to cross only at the “Chop – Zakhon” point.
