Support for Energy and Defense

Zelensky emphasized the significant energy support from Norway and highlighted the importance of further cooperation in building Ukraine’s defense capabilities. In his statement, he noted that both countries plan to develop joint projects to strengthen modern defense capabilities.

“There have been packages of energy support from Norway, and this is truly noticeable. It is important that Norway is ready to join the preparation of steps for the recovery and post-war economic development of Ukraine. We will continue to develop joint opportunities in building modern defense capabilities,” he wrote in a telegram.

Trilateral Format and Challenges for Ukraine

During the conversation, the President of Ukraine also informed Jonas Gahr Støre about the trilateral format of meetings in the United Arab Emirates. Zelensky emphasized the constructive and substantive work of the Ukrainian team but pointed out the ongoing Russian strikes on the energy and infrastructure sectors, which complicate diplomatic efforts for the country’s recovery.

At this time, the Norwegian side is refraining from commenting on the details of the negotiations. Meanwhile, Norway has been providing comprehensive support to Ukraine – military, political, and humanitarian – since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
