Over 400 Drones and 40 Missiles Launched by Russia at Ukraine: There Are Casualties

Зеленський анонсував зустріч із лідерами «коаліції охочих» у суботу

On the night of June 6, Russian forces carried out a massive aerial assault on Ukraine, launching over 400 drones and more than 40 missiles, including ballistic ones. This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to him, 49 people were injured as a result of the attack, of which three, unfortunately, lost their lives — these were emergency responders from the State Emergency Service.

“49 people were injured. Unfortunately, the number may rise: people are seeking help. As of now, three fatalities are known. They are employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. My sincere condolences to their families,” the head of state wrote, adding that “Russia does not change its tactics.”

The massive bombardment affected nearly the entire territory of the country. Attacks were recorded in Volyn, Lviv, Ternopil, Kyiv, Sumy, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv regions. Zelensky emphasized that Russia continues to strike cities and villages, destroying the lives of peaceful residents.

Call to the International Community

The President of Ukraine stressed that Russia must be held accountable for its actions. He appealed to partner countries to increase pressure on the aggressor to end the war, noting that delays from the international community only contribute to the continuation of hostilities and an increase in casualties.

U.S. Reaction and Events on the Front

U.S. President Donald Trump, responding to reporters’ questions about the possibility of imposing new sanctions against Russia, compared the war to “two children fighting in a park,” stating that sometimes they need to be allowed to “fight a little.” He added that he would make a decision regarding sanctions if he sees that hostilities do not cease, and this could apply to both countries. Trump did not specify any timelines for the imposition of sanctions.

The meeting between the U.S. President and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz took place the day after Trump’s phone conversation with Vladimir Putin, during which the Russian leader expressed readiness to respond to the recent attacks on Russian airfields. Following this, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine warned of the possibility of large-scale aerial attacks.

Earlier, on June 1, Ukrainian drones attacked several Russian military airfields. According to the Security Service of Ukraine, over 40 Russian aircraft were destroyed, and the preparation for this operation lasted a year and a half. Analysis of satellite images and videos confirmed the destruction of at least 11 strategic bombers of Russia.
