Premiere of Rediscovered Works in the Capital

For the first time in Kyiv, partesny concerts by an unknown author, originating from the Kyiv-Sofia Monastery, will be heard. Among them are “The Body of Christ,” “It is Meet and Right,” “Rejoice, Righteous Ones,” and “Your Lamb.” These unique works were found in archival whispers and restored by musicologist Ihor Kolomiyets. Their world premiere already took place in early 2025 at the Lviv Organ Hall.

“At the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, one of the main centers for the development of choral art, partesny concerts were performed several centuries ago. They are returning once again. The “Homin” choir will present a series of rediscovered and restored works that have been considered lost for decades,” the event information states.

Polyphony of Ukrainian Baroque and New Premieres

Additionally, during the concert, there will be a premiere performance of the partesny concerts “Ole Okaiannaia Dushe” and “The End Approaches, O Soul” in the edition by Ihor Kolomiyets. The program also features works by Mykola Dyletskyi and Herman Levytsky in the edition of musicologist Olha Shumilina, which are examples of Ukrainian Baroque polyphony.

Partesny singing is a unique form of polyphonic choral art that combines the traditions of Western European polyphony and Eastern choral culture. Works in this style impress with their virtuosity, depth, monumentality, and emotional richness.

The concert will take place on December 9 at 19:00 at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
