New Sanctions and Decisions Regarding Russian Oil

The head of state welcomed the decisions of the United States and the European Union to impose new sanctions against Russia. The coalition participants paid special attention to further pressure on the Russian oil sector, companies, tanker fleet, and the aggressor’s infrastructure. Zelensky emphasized that the agreed measures have significant potential to strengthen Ukraine’s position, although details are not yet disclosed for security reasons.

“Today, all, absolutely all, participants of the Coalition of the Willing agreed that this is how we must continue to apply pressure – on Russian oil. On Russia’s oil companies, on terminals, on the fleet of Russian tankers, and on the entire infrastructure of the aggressor. We have agreed on decisions today that can greatly assist us. For now, we will not publicly discuss all the details to make it harder for Putin,” he said.

Financial Support and Prospects for Ukraine

The President of Ukraine also reported on key agreements regarding financing reached during meetings with European partners. According to him, Europe has already politically agreed on a specific mechanism for using frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine, and its implementation is expected by the end of the current year. Zelensky expressed confidence that funding for Ukraine will be guaranteed next year, and support from the European Union and other allies will remain at a high level.

Additionally, the president thanked international partners for providing new packages of military and energy assistance, which allow Ukraine to strengthen its defense capabilities and ensure the resilience of its energy system.

The meeting of the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ took place in London. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte emphasized that support for Ukraine is yielding real results and must continue. He reported that allies are working on allocating about 1 billion dollars for the PURL program, which involves the procurement of American weapons for the Ukrainian military.

It is worth noting that this meeting followed a session of European Union leaders in Brussels, where a final agreement on the use of frozen Russian assets could not be reached due to a number of legal and technical issues raised by Belgium. Despite this, the EU confirmed its readiness to meet Ukraine’s financial needs over the next two years, as stated by European Council President Antonio Costa.
