Protecting Memory and Public Order
According to him, the main goal is to ensure the safety and preservation of the memorial site.
“Regarding the protection of memory and maintaining respect. The first thing we are doing promptly. From this morning, the patrol police, armed, have been deployed to guard the People’s Memorial at the Square. This is solely a function of ensuring public order. However, we fully acknowledge the importance of the location and its actual status.”
Tkachенко added that he will continue to inform about further steps regarding this memorial site. Earlier, law enforcement detained a woman who damaged photographs of fallen defenders and scattered flowers at the Alley of Heroes. The 33-year-old woman was in an inadequate state and acted unpredictably.
Protection of Historical Sites and Other Incidents
It is noted that measures to protect the memorial are part of broader efforts to maintain public order and respect for historical sites. At the same time, the police recently responded to an incident involving the damage of photographs, indicating the need for enhanced protection of such locations in Kyiv.
