Support for Ukraine at a Crucial Moment

Earlier this week, Donald Tusk announced on social media platform X that he plans to visit Kyiv at the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Tusk emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine in the current challenging circumstances, highlighting that the country should not be left alone to face its challenges.

“At the invitation of Volodymyr Zelensky, I will be in Kyiv in the coming days. In this dramatic time, Ukraine cannot stand alone.”

Political Context and Poland’s Position

In January, Donald Tusk commented on statements made by former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the Russo-Ukrainian war. Tusk stressed that it is Russia that rejects the peace initiatives proposed by the U.S., not Volodymyr Zelensky. He pointed out that the response of the Russian Federation to peace proposals has been new missile strikes on Ukrainian cities.

For his part, Donald Trump claimed that Ukraine is allegedly delaying the achievement of a potential peace agreement, naming President Zelensky as the one hindering the negotiation process. At the same time, Tusk did not specify to whom exactly his remarks were addressed but stated that there is still a long way to go before peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are completed.
