The European Union has already fulfilled 80% of its plan to supply Ukraine with two million artillery shells. This was stated by the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, during a speech in the European Parliament.

This is reported by Kyiv24

“We aim to reach 100% by October. All of this is to ensure that Ukraine can defend itself, its civilians, and repel aggression,” announced Borrell.

EU Support for Ukraine: Military and Financial Resources

According to Josep Borrell, the European Union has already trained around 80,000 Ukrainian soldiers. He emphasized that the EU is the largest training partner for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It has also been reported that work is underway to amend the mandate of the EU mission, allowing for the training of Ukrainian soldiers directly in Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, EU member states have provided Ukraine with nearly 169 billion euros in various forms of support, of which over 63 billion euros is military assistance.

Increase in Ammunition Production in Europe

As part of a separate Czech initiative, which operates alongside the pan-European plan, Ukraine is set to receive an additional one million large-caliber shells by 2025. This was previously announced by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

According to industry sources, European defense companies are currently expanding their production capacities three times faster than before the onset of the full-scale aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. It is expected that by the end of 2025, ammunition production in Europe will increase from 300,000 to 2 million units per year. This will allow for a sevenfold increase in the production of artillery shells, missiles, and explosives, which is critically important for supporting Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
