Putin Proposes External Management in Ukraine for Elections

Путін запропонував запровадити «зовнішнє управління» в Україні

Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested discussing the possibility of introducing temporary external international management in Ukraine. He voiced this idea during a visit to the Northern Fleet, stating that such a step may be necessary for organizing «democratic elections» and forming a «viable government that enjoys the trust of the people», with which peace negotiations can be conducted.

Idea Under the Auspices of International Partners

Putin noted that the implementation of this concept is possible «under the auspices of the UN, the USA, and European countries», as well as with «partners and friends» of Russia. Additionally, he emphasized his position that the current leadership of Ukraine is illegitimate, which is why he is hesitant to sign any documents with them.

Prospects for Peace and Ukraine’s Reaction

«This is just one of the options. I am not saying that others do not exist», – emphasized Putin, expressing the view that Russia is «steadily and confidently moving towards achieving all the goals declared at the beginning» of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. He assured that there are all grounds to believe that Russia will achieve its goals.

“US President Donald Trump sincerely desires peace in Ukraine,” – noted Putin.

At the same time, there has been no reaction from Ukraine regarding the statements of the Russian president so far. Information about telephone negotiations between Trump and Putin that took place the day before indicates that the parties agreed to begin moving towards peace through «energy and infrastructure ceasefire».

On March 26, Ukrainian President’s advisor Dmytro Lytvyn noted that Russia is spreading false information about an alleged cessation of strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure that was supposedly implemented on March 18. He emphasized that since then, there have already been eight recorded strikes on energy facilities, and Ukrainian air defense is shooting down dozens of strike drones daily. Lytvyn urged international partners to verify every word from Kremlin representatives.
