In the night of October, Russian forces carried out a massive missile attack on Kyiv, targeting exclusively civilian and residential infrastructure. This was reported by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachенко.
“During this night, as a result of the Russian attack, at least 4 locations in the Desnyanskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Darnytskyi districts were affected. Rescue operations are still ongoing, and efforts to localize the fires are in progress… What we are witnessing is pure terror,” he wrote.
Damage to residential areas and civilian casualties
According to Tkachенко, a large crater was formed in the Dniprovskyi district due to a missile strike, the shockwave shattered numerous windows, and debris and glass caused injuries to residents — there are injuries to arms and legs. Among the damaged facilities is a kindergarten.
According to the latest confirmed data, two people have died as a result of the attack, and at least 13 have sustained injuries of varying severity. As noted by the head of the KMVA, the number of reports of new casualties continues to rise.
“One of those hit by Russia was in critical condition and died in the emergency hospital. Very severe injuries, shrapnel wounds,” stated the head of the KMVA.

City services and public response
Tkachенко emphasized the need to review the emergency response strategy in the capital. He noted that initial assistance at the sites is currently being provided by volunteers rather than the city’s specialized services, and promised to dedicate the upcoming week to analyzing the city’s reserves for such cases.
As of 12:00, the Kyiv police had already received 80 reports from citizens regarding the aftermath of the shelling. Multi-story residential buildings, a kindergarten, an educational institution, shops, and vehicles have been destroyed and damaged.
Rescue services continue to address the consequences of the attack and assist the affected individuals.
