Repeated attacks on SOCAR facilities
According to Andriy Sybiha, this is already the second strike on SOCAR facilities in the last month. The minister stressed that Moscow is deliberately acting against Azerbaijani interests in Ukraine. On the night of August 18, Russian forces attacked SOCAR’s oil terminals, marking the second large-scale attack on the enterprise in recent weeks.
“Last night, the Russians struck SOCAR’s oil terminals in the Odesa region. This is the second Russian strike against the Azerbaijani state company in recent weeks. Moscow is doing this intentionally, acting against Azerbaijan’s interests,” said Sybiha.
On the night of August 8, a massive drone attack was recorded: Russian military launched about ten drones at the SOCAR oil depot, resulting in documented partial destruction.
Strike on energy infrastructure
In addition to the attacks on the oil depot, on August 6, Russian forces struck a compressor station of the gas transportation system operator in Ukraine’s Odesa region. This station facilitates test deliveries of Azerbaijani gas. The facility is located near the Ukrainian-Romanian border, indicating the strategic importance of such infrastructure targets.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of developing cooperation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan and called for an appropriate diplomatic and legal response to the aggressive actions of the Russian Federation.
