Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine neutralized another agent group of the Russian military intelligence that operated in Kyiv. As a result of operational measures, three individuals were detained, one of whom is a citizen of the Russian Federation.

According to the investigation, the main task of the perpetrators was to adjust enemy airstrikes on the capital of Ukraine. The enemy targets were focused on defense factories and warehouses with weapons and ammunition of the Defense Forces. To carry out their plans, the agents set up an observation point on the roof of a high-rise building in Kyiv.
Investigation of Agent Activities
The investigation revealed that the group members acted separately, but their actions were coordinated by one curator — an employee of the GRU, whose identity has already been identified by the SBU counterintelligence. The detained Russian spy was in Ukraine in a “waiting mode,” and after the start of the full-scale war, he was activated by a Russian military intelligence officer.
Detention and Evidence Discovery
To gain access to the observation platform, the agent used friendly connections with a representative of a local homeowners’ association who had keys to the technical premises. The other two detainees turned out to be current and former employees of Ukrainian defense companies. One of them collected information about the consequences of enemy attacks on factories, while the other inquired with colleagues about the locations of potential targets.
SBU counterintelligence documented the agents’ crimes and conducted their detention. During searches, computer equipment and mobile phones with agency “reports” were seized from the suspects. Additionally, one of the agents was found with a drone that he planned to use for spying on defense facilities.
The investigation is ongoing.
