Capital law enforcement officials uncovered an attempt to embezzle one and a half million hryvnias of budget funds during the renovation of a school bomb shelter. This scheme involved a technical supervision engineer and the director of the contracting organization that carried out the work.

The Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office reported that the investigation established that in 2022, one of the district education departments signed a contract with a contracting organization for the renovation of shelters in educational institutions for a total amount of nearly 4 million hryvnias. However, the volumes and costs of the work actually performed at one of the schools did not match the data in the documents.
Overestimation of Repair Costs
Experts assessed that the total cost of the work was inflated by nearly 1.5 million hryvnias. Currently, the indictment against these officials has been submitted to the court for consideration of the case on its merits.
