Details of Energy Cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania
During intergovernmental consultations in Vilnius, the parties agreed on long-term supplies of liquefied natural gas (LNG) through the terminal in the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda. According to Yulia Svyrydenko, Ukraine will receive LNG from both American and Middle Eastern producers, which will allow for the diversification of energy supply sources and strengthen the country’s energy security.
“We have reached an agreement on long-term LNG supplies through the Klaipeda terminal during intergovernmental consultations in Vilnius.”
The Prime Minister noted that earlier, the Naftogaz group had already imported liquefied gas through this terminal, and the new agreements will significantly enhance this supply direction.
The First Shipments of American LNG are Already in Ukraine
Naftogaz of Ukraine organized the first import of liquefied natural gas from the USA through the Klaipeda terminal back in February 2026. Thanks to the agreements reached, Ukraine will be able to increase the volumes of LNG imports, which will contribute to enhancing the country’s energy independence.
The official visit of Yulia Svyrydenko to Lithuania, which took place on June 1, was a significant step in the development of strategic partnership between the two countries in the energy sector.
