“The US Embassy is open. There are no changes in our operations, and reports to the contrary are untrue.”

The statement also highlights that the safety and protection of American citizens remain a priority for the US Department of State. Embassy representatives regularly assess the security situation to ensure the protection of staff and citizens in Kyiv.

Warnings for US Citizens and Diplomatic Reactions

The embassy once again reminded US citizens of the travel ban to Ukraine for any reason due to the ongoing armed conflict. Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported that the American embassy had not left Kyiv despite further threats from Russia regarding possible strikes on the capital.

At the same time, the head of the EU’s foreign policy service, Josep Borrell, stated that the embassies of European states remain in Kyiv, although public statements have circulated claiming that “America has left.”

Russian Threats and Security Assessment in Kyiv

On May 25, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation announced possible strikes on “decision-making centers and command posts” in Kyiv. In an official statement, the Russian agency warned foreign citizens, including diplomats and representatives of international organizations, about the need to urgently leave the capital of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine emphasized that the level of threats to Kyiv and other cities remains unchanged compared to previous years and months. The EU Embassy in Ukraine also noted that Russia’s warnings aim to spread panic among the population and the diplomatic corps.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov personally emphasized the dangers of being in Kyiv during a phone call with the American side. However, according to Rubio, the capital of Ukraine has been a dangerous place for a long time due to military actions.

He also stressed that Russia’s massive strikes on Kyiv indicate the need for a swift end to the war, and the US is ready to assist in finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
