President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made the decision to update the composition of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief with the relevant decree dated May 29. New members have been added to this key body on national security and defense issues.

Who joined the Staff
According to the document, the Staff was joined by people’s deputy and head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Oleksandr Zavitenovych, as well as Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko. In accordance with the procedure, the president made this decision based on the proposal of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Previous changes in the composition
President Zelensky has not yet made public comments regarding the motives behind the decision. It is worth noting that in December 2025, former head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak was removed from the Staff. Thus, the update of the Staff continues, reflecting the current priorities of state policy in the field of security and finance.
