Impact of the Strike: Casualties, Destruction, and Cleanup Progress
On the night of June 23, a Russian missile struck a multi-story residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital, causing the most significant destruction during the air attack on Kyiv. Rescue teams at the scene have completed the search operation, but emergency recovery efforts are ongoing: specialists are dismantling dangerous structures to prevent further collapses.
“Search and rescue operations in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv have been completed. The Russian missile on June 23 claimed the lives of 9 people,” wrote the minister.
According to the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenkо, over 30 facilities were damaged, including 27 residential buildings, three educational institutions, and nearly 40 vehicles. During the attack, nine people were killed, and another 25 were injured. It was specified that the enemy missile penetrated the building all the way to the basement, resulting in significant casualties and destruction.
Humanitarian Aid and Support for the Affected
Throughout the day, 31 units of equipment worked at the site of the emergency, removing over 600 cubic meters of construction debris. Specialists from the State Emergency Service and law enforcement agencies were involved in the cleanup and search and rescue operations.
Since the morning, humanitarian headquarters have been operating in the area, providing support and assistance to residents. Currently, 72 affected individuals have submitted applications for a one-time payment of 10,000 hryvnias under the “Care. Towards Kyivans” program. Additionally, 23 applications have already been accepted under the “eRecovery” program, and 16 individuals have sought compensation for housing rental expenses, which includes an immediate payment of 40,000 hryvnias and 20,000 hryvnias monthly thereafter.
