Victoria Spartz, an American congresswoman born in Ukraine, expressed the opinion that Ukrainians should accept the loss of territories due to the war with Russia. According to her, Ukraine should also demand the resignation of President Volodymyr Zelensky. She stated this in an interview with the British publication The Telegraph.

“I just don’t understand how they can have a position to demand to keep the land. If they were winning the war, that would be a completely different matter,” she said.
Spartz noted that she supports former President Donald Trump’s initiative to negotiate with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The politician accused former President Joe Biden of being unwilling to provide Ukraine with the necessary assistance to achieve victory.
“As I said two years ago, the best way to win wars is as quickly as you can. Prolonging usually doesn’t end well for democracy,” she added.
At the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Spartz was an active supporter of U.S. assistance to Ukraine; however, in 2024, she voted against a $61 billion aid package, accusing the Ukrainian government of corruption without providing specific evidence.
Victoria Spartz (maiden name Kulhiyko) was born in Nosivka, Chernihiv Oblast, in 1978 and lived in Ukraine until 2000. After marrying Jason Spartz, she moved to the United States, obtaining American citizenship in 2006. In November 2020, she became the first ethnically Ukrainian woman elected to the U.S. Congress.
