U.S. President Donald Trump expressed outrage over the intense Russian strikes on Ukraine, emphasizing that his administration is striving to achieve a ceasefire in the conflict with the Russian Federation.

“I am not thrilled about what is happening with the bombings, because they are bombing like crazy right now… It’s a bad situation,” Trump noted during a meeting in the Oval Office with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Ceasefire Negotiations
The U.S. President added that negotiations are ongoing with the Russian Federation and Ukraine, stating: “we are getting closer,” but did not specify whether this refers to reaching a ceasefire agreement.
This statement came just hours after the Kremlin announced that Vladimir Putin supports the initiative for a ceasefire in Ukraine, although Moscow is still awaiting responses to key questions regarding a possible truce.
Situation on the Front
In recent weeks, there have been numerous meetings and phone calls between representatives of Ukraine and the U.S., as well as between the Russian Federation and the U.S. regarding the possibility of a ceasefire. In particular, on March 11, U.S. representatives received Ukraine’s consent for a 30-day truce, which Putin did not reject but set forth his conditions.
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Vitkoff and Russian representative Kirill Dmitriev held meetings in Washington, during which they discussed options for finalizing an agreement. Dmitriev noted: “Steve was really focused on finding solutions. I think there is an understanding of how we can move towards finalizing the agreement, and there have been many discussions in that direction.”
The spokesperson for the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, expressed “cautious optimism” regarding relations between the RF and the U.S. following Dmitriev’s visit.
Amid these negotiations, the Russian Federation continues to strike Ukraine. On April 4, as a result of a ballistic attack on Kryvyi Rih in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, 20 people were killed, including nine children. The UN reported that this was the deadliest attack on children since February 2022.
