Mass events are advised to be limited during the winter holidays

This year, the main New Year’s tree of Ukraine will traditionally be installed at Sofia Square in Kyiv. Preparatory work for the assembly of the festive location will begin at the end of this week.
Opening Date and Organization of the Festive Location
“Preparatory work is planned to start on November 8. The location will traditionally begin operating on St. Nicholas Day – December 6, 2025,” the announcement states.
The city authorities emphasized that budget funds for the arrangement of the main Christmas tree and the accompanying New Year’s infrastructure will not be allocated – all expenses will be covered by sponsors. The responsibility for organizing this year’s Christmas location has been assigned to LLC “GLOBAL-DECOR,” which will fully provide for the installation, maintenance, and dismantling of the festive structures, as well as the necessary material and financial support.
Additional Festive Locations and Safety Measures
In addition to the traditional New Year’s tree, a small ice rink and several stalls for selling confectionery and hot drinks will also be set up at Sofia Square, with the approval of the Kyiv Defense Council. Organizers must strictly adhere to the established restrictions regarding electricity usage and safety measures. No separate mass events are planned in the square.
The capital’s Defense Council recommended that district administrations and entrepreneurs limit mass events in open areas during the celebrations of Christmas and the New Year 2026 to ensure the safety of citizens.
