In Ukraine, the protection of the unique historical site at Postal Square in Kyiv is being strengthened.

Following a discussion at the off-site meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine announced the intensification of efforts to grant protective status to the archaeological site discovered during excavations in the center of the capital.

Development Plan for the Museum Institution
As reported by the ministry, the working group established to develop an action plan for the museum institution on the territory of the archaeological and historically significant site “Section of the Coastal Urban Quarter of Medieval Kyiv” has intensified its activities. The priority is the preservation and proper development of the site, which holds exceptional historical and cultural value for the country.
“The working group of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications for developing the action plan for the museum institution on the territory of the archaeological and historically significant site ‘Section of the Coastal Urban Quarter of Medieval Kyiv’ at Postal Square in Kyiv is intensifying its activities until a final resolution is reached on the entire range of issues related to the preservation and development of this unique object of historical and cultural heritage,” the ministry assured.
Support for the Legal Status of the Museum
During the discussion at the off-site meeting, the members of parliament unanimously expressed the necessity of enhancing the protection of the site and securing the official status of the museum directly at the excavation site. This step will contribute to the long-term preservation of the site and draw attention to Kyiv’s historical heritage.
