Sanctions Affect Individuals and Legal Entities

In addition to individuals, five organizations have also been subjected to restrictions. Among them is the “Center for Geopolitical Expertise,” founded by Dugin, the Telegram channel “Rybar,” the “Fund for Support and Protection of the Rights of Compatriots Living Abroad,” as well as two Russian-language media projects operating in Belgium – Golos and Euromore.

Purpose of the Sanctions and Russia’s Reaction

The British authorities believe that all the mentioned individuals and entities are either involved in destabilizing the situation in Ukraine or are profiting from supporting the government of the Russian Federation.

“Alexander Dugin is considered one of the main ideologues of Russia’s war against Ukraine. He has repeatedly criticized Western countries and is under sanctions from the USA and the European Union.”

In response to the new restrictions, the Russian Federation has traditionally claimed the illegality of Western sanctions, labeling the sanctions against Russian media as a violation of freedom of speech. The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly threatened a mirror response to such measures.
