International Community’s Reaction
So far, a similar diplomatic note has been delivered to the Russian ambassador by representatives of the European Union in Brussels. This indicates a firm stance by Western countries regarding the unacceptability of attacks on civilian infrastructure and foreign diplomatic missions.
Consequences of the Night Attack on Kyiv
On the night of August 28, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on Kyiv using missiles and drones. As a result of the attack, a five-story residential building in the capital was destroyed, at least 19 people were killed, and more than 50 were injured. Various areas of the city suffered serious damage, including the European Union’s representation, the British Council office, as well as the editorial offices of “Ukrainska Pravda” and Radio Liberty.
In the Kremlin, the targets of the strikes in Kyiv were described as “military infrastructure facilities.” This was stated by the spokesperson for the Russian leader, Dmitry Peskov, on August 28.
