Traffic Restrictions for Heavy Vehicles in Kyiv Due to Heat: Details of the Restrictions

У Києві обмежать рух вантажівок: що трапилося

In the capital of Ukraine, traffic for heavy vehicles has been restricted due to the unusually hot weather.

This is reported by Kyiv24

Starting from June 5, new restrictions for truck traffic have been implemented in Kyiv. These measures are related to the rising air temperatures, which, according to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, will exceed +28 ºC in the coming days.

What Restrictions Have Been Imposed on Freight Transport

Drivers of heavy vehicles should be particularly cautious, as the new rules prohibit movement within the city for vehicles with a total weight exceeding 24 tons and an axle load greater than 7 tons during periods of significant heat. The specific times for the restrictions will be determined based on the temperature conditions, allowing for a prompt response to weather changes.

Control and Legal Basis for Implementing Restrictions

Strict control over compliance with the requirements is assigned to the Kyiv Patrol Police Department. The restrictions are based on the order of the Kyiv City State Administration dated July 7, 2012, No. 1173, which aims to protect the road surface from damage during hot periods.

“Starting from June 5, traffic for heavy vehicles will be restricted in the capital due to the heat,” the statement reads.

As explained by “Kyivavtodor,” these measures are necessary to preserve the asphalt surface on the streets and roads of Kyiv, as the intense movement of heavy machinery during high temperatures can lead to its destruction.
