, has been extended until December 31, 2025, as announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
According to the terms of this agreement, Ukrainian road carriers can carry out freight transportation to EU countries without the need for special permits. This decision marks the fourth extension of the agreement, confirming its effectiveness, as the export of Ukrainian goods by road to Europe has increased by 42%, while imports have risen by 37%.
The Importance of the Agreement for Ukraine’s Integration into the EU
According to Shmyhal,
“transport visa-free”
is an important element of Ukraine’s sectoral integration into the European Union and contributes to the country’s preparation for EU membership.
In June 2024, the validity of the
“transport visa-free”
agreement was extended for one year between Ukraine and the European Commission, with the possibility of automatic renewal until the end of 2025. The updated agreement includes a number of mutual obligations regarding the possession of transportation licenses and the marking of trucks. In particular, it stipulates the marking of trucks that carry out transportation under the agreement, as well as obligations for all drivers to carry transportation licenses or other confirming documents while performing transport operations. Additionally, carriers traveling without cargo must have documents confirming the goods they plan to import.
