Трамп пропонував Євросоюзу запровадити стовідсоткові мита на імпорт із Китаю та Індії

U.S. President Donald Trump has proposed that European Union countries impose 100% tariffs on goods from China and India. This move, according to Trump, is intended to increase pressure on Beijing and Delhi to convince them to reduce or completely cease their purchases of energy resources from Russia.

Trump Insists on Tough Measures Against China and India

According to media reports, President Trump’s initiative was voiced during a phone call with a European Union delegation that is in Washington to discuss sanctions policy with White House representatives. Trump emphasized that following similar actions by the EU, the U.S. would also impose corresponding tariffs on imports from China and India.

According to a source in the White House, the U.S. president is convinced that “the obvious approach is the need to impose striking tariffs and maintain them until the Chinese stop buying oil.”

Ukraine Calls for Decisive Action

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko participated in the negotiations between the American and European sides. She urged the meeting participants to make every effort to limit financial flows to Russia that enable it to continue its war against Ukraine.

It is worth noting that at the end of August, Donald Trump had already doubled the tariffs on imports from India to 50% due to Delhi’s refusal to reduce its purchases of Russian oil. As for Chinese goods, most of them are currently subject to a 30% tariff, but the president postponed a previously announced increase to 145%, leaving room for further negotiations with China.
