Ukraine remains in a state of constant shortage of interception means if Russia’s massive attacks continue. This was stated by the head of the communications department of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ihnat, during a broadcast.

Contribution of International Partners to Air Defense

Yuriy Ihnat noted that Ukraine is receiving air defense systems from various countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. He emphasized that the share of American weapons in Ukraine’s air defense remains significant, but the country also has European equivalents and does not rely solely on one state.

“Today we have various systems represented by different countries. These include Germany, the United Kingdom, and, of course, the United States of America. The share of American weapons is quite large. I do not want to talk about any criticality,” he said.

According to Ihnat, in recent months, Ukraine has had to fend off some of the most massive attacks from Russia. A record number of aerial targets was recorded on May 25, 26, and 27, as well as in June. One of these attacks, consisting of 537 air assault means, was successfully repelled by the Ukrainian military with a high percentage of interception, although some destruction and losses did occur.

Situation with the Supply of American Weapons

According to Western media, it was recently reported that the supply of certain types of American weapons to Ukraine has been suspended. This includes interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems, ammunition for howitzers, Hellfire missiles, and air-to-air missiles. This decision was made due to the need to assess the state of American arsenals, which have significantly decreased due to assistance to Ukraine and operations in the Middle East.

The pause in supply will last until the completion of this assessment. Currently, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has stated that it has not received any official notifications from the United States regarding changes in the supply schedule, and Kyiv continues to clarify the current situation.

Amid the intensification of Russian airstrikes, Ukrainian authorities are constantly appealing to Western partners for an increase in the number of air defense systems. During the final press conference of the NATO summit in The Hague last week, President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. is considering the possibility of providing Ukraine with additional Patriot systems.

Yuriy Ihnat emphasized that Ukraine continues to rely on the support of international partners while also working on creating its own means to repel air attacks.
