During the discussion, Svyrydenko thanked the members of parliament for their support of important legislative initiatives from the past parliamentary week. Thanks to this cooperation, the government is already preparing to attract the next tranche of financial assistance from the EU, aimed at the economic resilience of Ukraine and the implementation of reforms.

“Thanks to this, we are preparing to receive 2.7 billion euros in June under the program (EU support program – ed.) Ukraine Facility.”

European loans and compliance with IMF requirements

In addition, together with Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko, Yulia Svyrydenko informed about the European Union’s decision to provide Ukraine with a loan of 90 billion euros. These funds are planned to be directed primarily to support the defense sector. At the same time, to ensure funding for social programs, the government emphasizes the importance of meeting the conditions set by the International Monetary Fund and the Ukraine Facility Plan.

Government officials, along with parliamentarians, also identified a list of the most important bills that need to be adopted in the near future to continue receiving international support.

At the beginning of April, Svyrydenko emphasized that for the stable influx of funds under the Ukraine Facility and IMF programs, Ukraine must continue to implement reforms and fulfill the relevant obligations.

On April 23, the EU Council unanimously approved changes to the European Union’s multiannual budget, allowing for a loan of 90 billion euros to Ukraine, and also adopted the 20th sanctions package. The Cypriot presidency in the EU Council announced the completion of the necessary written procedures.
