Defense of Pokrovsk and the Fight Against Russian Sabotage and Reconnaissance Groups
Ukrainian military forces continue to hold their positions despite constant attempts by the enemy to break into the city and establish a foothold there. Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups pose a particular threat as they attempt to infiltrate Pokrovsk. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are effectively destroying these groups, preventing the occupiers from achieving their objectives. Zelensky emphasized that this tactic is typical of the Russian army, and Ukraine is giving it a resolute response.
“The front, especially the Pokrovsk direction – our units are holding their positions. Pokrovsk, Dobropillia – this is where the highest intensity of fighting is taking place. It is important that our soldiers are destroying Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups, small units that are constantly trying to break into the city and establish themselves there. This is Russian tactics, and our response to it is the destruction of the occupier,” he stated.
Refuting Russian Disinformation and Diplomatic Steps
The President emphasized that claims about the capture of Chasiv Yar are yet another piece of disinformation from the Russian Federation. He highlighted that Ukrainian units are successfully repelling all enemy attempts to advance in both Donetsk and other regions – Sumy and Kharkiv. Despite the complexity of the situation, Ukraine’s defenders are safeguarding citizens’ right to life, and every direction is strategically important.
Volodymyr Zelensky also reported on the participation of Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in a diplomatic meeting in Finland at the OSCE platform, where Ukraine clearly outlines its needs to compel the Russian Federation to peace. The President announced preparations for new sanctions against Russia and further international steps to support Ukraine.
In response to information disseminated by Russian military bloggers about an alleged breakthrough by the aggressor into the center of Pokrovsk, a representative of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Anna Kyivska, Artem Prybylnov, called these claims yet another propaganda fake. According to him, although isolated Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are attempting to infiltrate Pokrovsk, they do not control the city.
