The Ukrainian delegation will travel to Washington for negotiations regarding a new draft agreement on minerals. This was announced by Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko.

Negotiations on the Strategic Agreement
Svyrydenko stated that the negotiations will take place this week, noting:
“This week, Ukraine will send a delegation to Washington to advance discussions on a strategic agreement with the United States regarding critically important natural resources. This dialogue reflects the strategic interests of both countries and our shared commitment to building a strong, transparent partnership”
. The delegation will include representatives from the ministries of economy, foreign affairs, justice, and finance.
Mineral Agreement and Its Implications
Svyrydenko also mentioned that the purpose of the visit is to agree on project selections, establish a legislative framework, and create mechanisms for long-term investment. At the same time, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha previously emphasized the need for the agreement to comply with Ukrainian legislation, stressing that
“this agreement must align with the interests of both countries, and we have our own legislation”
.
Furthermore, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is trying to withdraw from the mineral agreement, warning of potential negative consequences. According to Bloomberg, Ukraine intends to amend the draft agreement, including promising to increase investments from the U.S.
During their conversation, Trump and Zelensky agreed to cooperate to end Russia’s war against Ukraine, highlighting the importance of the strategic partnership between the countries.
