International Diplomacy and the Role of Key Countries
In a statement, the Ukrainian foreign policy agency specifically highlighted the significant contribution of the United States of America and the personal role of President Donald Trump, who, according to the Ministry, facilitated the achievement of a compromise between the parties. It also emphasized the diplomatic efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey in resolving the conflict.
“Ukraine highly values the leadership of the United States and the personal role of President Donald Trump in mediating and seeking solutions that pave the way for ending the bloodshed, releasing hostages, and alleviating the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.”
The Ministry is convinced that these agreements represent an important beginning for the long-term stabilization of the situation in the Middle East and will contribute to strengthening peace and security worldwide. Kyiv has called on all parties to fully comply with their commitments.
Details of the Peace Agreement and Future Steps
Ukraine supports all international initiatives aimed at protecting civilians, ensuring security, and upholding humanitarian law. President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope that the international community could similarly influence Russia to end the war against Ukraine and restore peace in Europe.
According to information provided by U.S. President Donald Trump, Israel and Hamas have agreed on the “first stage of the peace plan.” Trump added that the release of hostages held in Gaza could happen very soon. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the agreement reached must be approved by the government at a special meeting, emphasizing it as a “critical turning point” and thanking the U.S. for its support.
The peace plan proposed by the White House consists of 20 points. It includes a ceasefire, an exchange of hostages between the parties, a gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip, disarmament of Hamas, and the establishment of a transitional technocratic government composed of Palestinians and international experts. Under the terms, Hamas will be excluded from the political process, and its members who wish to leave Gaza will be allowed to do so. Forced relocation of residents is not provided for.
A separate point of the plan is the creation of an international transitional body called the “Council for Peace,” to be led by Donald Trump, which will include other influential figures, including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. This body will be responsible for the development and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which is planned to be transformed into a “deradicalized zone free from terror” under the control of international stabilization forces.
The armed conflict in the Middle East has been ongoing for two years, starting with the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. In response, Israeli forces launched a large-scale operation aimed not only at rescuing hostages but also at eliminating Hamas militants. Israel’s actions have faced increasing criticism worldwide due to significant civilian casualties and the deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The U.S. remains an ally of Israel while simultaneously calling for a swift ceasefire and the achievement of peace in the region.
