Ukrzaliznytsia Introduces Hourly Trains Between Kyiv and Lviv Starting December 14

«Укрзалізниця» організує щогодинні поїзди між Києвом і Львовом

Ukrzaliznytsia is implementing a new train movement model between Kyiv and Lviv, which will ensure hourly connections between the cities.

Starting from December 14, passengers will be able to take advantage of a stable and convenient train schedule that will operate on a regular basis. Under the new system, most trains will run year-round, with the exception of certain services during the “off-peak” period.

Advantages of Regular Train Service for Passengers

According to the new organization of train movement, trains will depart at clearly defined intervals — every hour. This significantly enhances convenience for passengers, as the schedule becomes predictable, and the departure times are easy to remember. Regular service has long been used in European countries with developed rail networks, such as Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, and has proven effective in Ukraine on the Kyiv City Express route.

“Regular service is a connection model where trains depart at a clear, repeating interval (for example, every hour). This regularity is characteristic of Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, and other European countries with developed rail networks, and it has been well-tested in Ukraine on the Kyiv City Express. Such a system is convenient for passengers as it is predictable — trains depart every hour at the same time, and the schedule is easy to remember,” said Ukrzaliznytsia.

Even Distribution of Passenger Flow

Ukrzaliznytsia notes that the introduction of regular service will allow for optimal distribution of passenger flow throughout the day, helping to avoid peak loads on stations and trains. This approach will contribute to improved service quality and make travel between Kyiv and Lviv even more comfortable.
