President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen made a working visit to the Polish-Belarusian border. The purpose of her visit was to reaffirm the unity and support of European Union countries regarding the protection of external borders.

Support for Poland Amid Hybrid Threats
During her time at the border, Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that Poland plays a crucial role in ensuring the security of the entire European Union. She noted that the country is facing hybrid attacks from outside the EU, highlighting the need for a consolidated response to these challenges.
“A strong Poland and a strong Europe protect our borders and all Europeans. Our message is clear. And this is what Belarus and other players in the region will heed,” she wrote on social media platform X.
Increased Funding for Border Protection
The head of the European Commission also announced that the new European Union budget proposes a significant increase in spending on border management, specifically tripling the funding for relevant measures. This step is intended to strengthen the EU’s defense capabilities and enhance responses to potential external threats.
Ursula von der Leyen was accompanied on her trip by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, underscoring the importance of cooperation between the leadership of the European Union and national governments in the area of security.
