What powers will the military ombudsman have

The draft law specifies that the ombudsman will be able to consider complaints from military personnel, respond to them, and conduct inspections with access to military facilities. This was previously reported by the President’s Commissioner for the Rights of Military Personnel, Olga Reshetilova.

“The draft law provides for the authority to process complaints, respond, and conduct inspections with access to military facilities.”

The approval process and the role of Olga Reshetilova

The document was submitted to parliament on May 8 as urgent. The preparation of the draft law was handled by Olga Reshetilova, who has officially held the position of the President’s Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights of Military Personnel and Their Families since December 30.

After her appointment, Reshetilova noted that she received a significant number of complaints from military personnel that require prompt response. The draft law aims to create an effective mechanism for protecting the rights of military personnel and ensuring a transparent review of their appeals.
