Ukrainian athlete Victoria Motrychko has won the title of world champion in classic checkers for the second time in her career. The prestigious tournament was held in the city of Couva, located in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. This is the first time in history that the world championship in classic checkers has taken place in this island nation.

Achievements of Ukrainian Players at the World Championship

The Ukrainian national team featured four athletes at the world championship: Victoria Motrychko, Yulia Makarenkova, Olena Korotka, and Olga Baltazhi. All of them fought for the top positions in the tournament standings.

Victoria Motrychko started the competition with three consecutive draws: in the first two rounds, her opponents were representatives from Mongolia, and in the third round, she faced Polish player Marta Bankowska. Motrychko secured her first victory in a match against Daria Tkachenko, who represented the Netherlands.

After nine rounds, Victoria Motrychko scored 12 points and won against her opponents three times. This result allowed her to once again become the world champion in classic checkers.
