The Fencing Federation Explained Olha Kharlan’s Absence from the Team for the 2025 European Championship

Famous Ukrainian fencer Olha Kharlan has not been included in the roster of the Ukrainian national fencing team for the 2025 European Championship, which will take place from June 14 to 19 in Genoa, Italy. The reason for this is her absence from the team’s preparation process for the international tournament.
Reasons for Kharlan’s Absence
The Ukrainian Fencing Federation reported that the athlete did not participate in the team’s training sessions and also lacked her usual fencing practice after taking a break following the Olympic Games. After a long hiatus, Kharlan resumed training independently, but has not yet joined the collective preparation of the national team.
“Olha has just resumed training (currently on her own) after the break she took after the Olympics. She did not participate in the team’s preparation for the 2025 European Championship and lacked her usual fencing practice,” the FFU stated.
Athlete’s Plans for the Season
The Federation clarified that Olha Kharlan is currently focused on general physical training, which is not related to preparation for specific international competitions. This season, she has decided to take a break from active competitions, concentrating on restoring her physical condition.
