Two-Way Talks and Strategic Partnership
According to the Romanian presidential administration, the main topic of the negotiations will be the further deepening of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Romania. The parties will discuss the prospects for developing political dialogue, expanding economic cooperation, and ways to strengthen constructive interaction for the future.
“The heads of the two states will also exchange views on the expansion of the European Union, transatlantic relations, the security situation in the Black Sea region, and recent events at both regional and global levels.”
Context of the Visit and Leadership Change
Zelensky’s visit to Romania is not his first since the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion. In particular, in October 2023, he already visited Bucharest, where he held talks with then-President Klaus Iohannis.
It is worth noting that Nicuşor Dan has held the position of President of Romania since May 26, 2025, after winning the repeat presidential elections.
