Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, along with First Lady Olena Zelenska, made an official visit to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. During the meeting with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, the main focus was on strengthening Ukraine’s energy security and developing military cooperation between the countries.

Support for Energy and Assistance from Lithuania
President Zelensky emphasized the critical situation in the energy sector caused by regular attacks from Russia on Ukrainian infrastructure. During the negotiations, he informed his Lithuanian counterpart about Ukraine’s urgent needs to ensure the resilience of the energy system and enhance air defense. Lithuania has already decided to transfer nearly one hundred generators to Ukrainian cities and communities to support vital facilities.
“Russia attacks our energy sector daily. I informed Gitanas about this and also about Ukraine’s needs for energy resilience and strengthening air defense. Thank you for the support: Lithuania has already decided to help Ukrainian cities and communities by providing nearly a hundred generators,” he noted.
Military Cooperation and Diplomatic Initiatives
The parties also discussed joint defense projects, as well as Lithuania’s initiative to create an export platform for weapons in Vilnius. Significant attention was given to cooperation within the PURL and SAFE programs aimed at enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
During the negotiations, Zelensky underscored the importance of diplomatic efforts to achieve peace, reporting on recent meetings between Ukrainian, American, and Russian delegations in Abu Dhabi. According to him, Ukraine continues to make maximum efforts to end the war.
According to information from the European Union, the European Commission has already provided over 1.2 billion euros for humanitarian aid programs for Ukraine and delivered over 160,000 tons of humanitarian cargo.
