Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his evening address on February 25, reported that he had heard briefings from the leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine regarding the current situation in the agency. The head of state emphasized the importance of purging the SBU of individuals whose interests do not align with those of Ukraine.

Zelensky instructed the acting head of the SBU, Yevhenii Khmara, and his deputy, Oleksandr Poklad, to intensify efforts to cleanse the service. He underscored that there are already initial results from this initiative — relevant detentions have taken place. The president stressed the necessity of fair justice for the detained individuals and emphasized that all officials must work for the benefit of Ukraine.
“There are already results. Relevant detentions occurred today, and it is very important that there are fair verdicts. Everyone in public office must work for Ukraine and for the sake of Ukraine. There will be no other way.”
Exposing Corruption in the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the SBU
Earlier that day, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko informed about the discovery of corrupt activities related to the construction of shelters for aircraft. According to him, the commander of logistics for the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the head of one of the regional SBU departments were detained on suspicion of involvement in corrupt schemes during the implementation of the specified project.
Following these events, the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the start of an internal service investigation. Currently, the Security Service of Ukraine has not released any official comments regarding this case.
