Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed citizens with a New Year’s greeting, emphasizing that the year 2025 has arrived thanks to the courage and resilience of Ukrainian defenders. He noted that this year was earned through the steadfastness, principles, and diligent daily work of the entire nation.

Words of Gratitude to Defenders and Hope for Peace
“This year has been made possible by our defenders – those who have fought for it not only for Ukraine but for all who value freedom and dignity. Together, we move forward with what sustains us: experience and memory, our native language, hope, and faith. We carry with us the ability to cooperate and humanity – what remains despite everything,” emphasized the head of the Ukrainian state.
The President also highlighted the importance of believing in peace, actively fighting for it, and working daily towards this goal.
The War Continues, and Hostilities Persist
Zelensky reminded that 2026 could mark the fifth year of the large-scale war that the Russian Federation began against Ukraine in February 2022 on the orders of Vladimir Putin. Despite the festive season, hostilities continue, and Moscow refuses to agree to any proposals for a ceasefire – neither temporary nor permanent.
The President urged Ukrainians to maintain unity, support one another, and keep hope and faith in victory and the restoration of peace on Ukrainian soil.
