Involvement of European Leaders in the Meeting
According to European diplomats, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte may join the meeting. Their presence is expected to help resolve any contentious issues between Trump and Zelensky and strengthen Europe’s involvement in future peace negotiations.
The European Union plans to send Alexander Stubb, who has experience in dialogue with Trump, along with Zelensky to Washington. This move is intended to enhance European influence in the negotiations and contribute to forming a unified position on conflict resolution and further steps towards achieving peace in Ukraine.
Support for the Trilateral Meeting
“The President of Ukraine supported the proposal for a trilateral meeting, and the details of the negotiations will be discussed with the head of the White House on August 18 in Washington.”
Additionally, other European leaders are expected to participate in the talks with Trump. Previously, Trump had already contacted Zelensky after speaking with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Alaska. The involvement of international partners is anticipated to strengthen Ukraine’s position in the negotiations and elevate the role of European countries in the process of resolving the situation.
