Zelensky Highlights Important Decisions by the European Council to Support Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the significant results achieved during the recent meeting of the European Council. He thanked partners for the strong support that Ukraine has received from European leaders regarding security issues and further pressure on Russia.

According to the head of state, decisions were made at the meeting that significantly strengthen security support for Ukraine while simultaneously increasing political pressure on the Russian Federation. The President also noted that the European Council highly appreciated the internal reforms that Ukraine is implementing even during the war. These achievements, according to Zelensky, bring the country closer to full membership in the European Union.

“There are truly good decisions regarding security support, further pressure on Russia, and a high assessment of our internal transformation. Even in wartime, we are making and implementing decisions that bring us closer to EU membership.”

Unity in Europe and Gratitude to Leaders

The President stressed that every united signal in support of Ukraine is an important guarantee for the future of the European continent. Zelensky emphasized that further progress towards Eurointegration depends on the unity of EU member states and all countries that sincerely support this aspiration.

Special thanks were expressed by the Ukrainian leader to the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, for their leadership and cooperation. He highlighted the importance of joint efforts to strengthen European values and achieve peace.

The European Council meeting also adopted conclusions in the field of defense, calling on European countries to enhance their sovereignty and responsibility for their own security. The final document emphasizes that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine poses an existential threat to the entire European Union.
