Zelenskyy Warns of the Risk of Belarus Being Drawn into the War with Russia

Після доповіді про порушення РФ перемир’я Зеленський заявив, що дії України будуть дзеркальними

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Alexander Lukashenko, by strengthening military cooperation with Moscow, is making a serious mistake, as the Russian Federation is trying to draw Belarus into the war against Ukraine. This was stated by the Ukrainian leader in an interview with a Belarusian independent publication.

Technological Involvement of Belarus in the War

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Belarus’s current involvement in the conflict does not mean that Belarusian military personnel are directly participating in combat operations on Ukrainian territory. However, as the head of state emphasized, Russia is actively using Belarusian territory to deploy auxiliary technical means, including relays, drones, and other equipment that was not previously there.

“It is drawing in, but that does not mean that Belarusian soldiers, military personnel, or border guards will come onto our territory today. As I have already said, this is a different kind of war now – it can be drawn in technologically. It is drawing in by placing its auxiliary technical forces on your territory. (And therefore) Lukashenko can no longer say: ‘I did not control (the missiles), they were here before, and that’s why they flew.’ But such drones as now did not exist before the war began, such relays did not exist, and there was not a single ‘Oreshnik’ physically on the territory of Belarus. And it cannot just appear… You know, I feel the risk. I feel it,” said the head of the Ukrainian state.

The Position of the Belarusian Authorities and Warnings from Russian Intelligence

In early February, Alexander Lukashenko, in response to statements from Russian intelligence, emphasized that “there is no force capable of separating Belarus from Russia.” At the same time, last week, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service issued a warning about the alleged existence of Western plans to interfere in Belarus’s affairs. According to the Russian side, Western countries are looking for new “liberal activists” in Belarus to implement the scenario of a so-called “color revolution.”
