Negotiations on Security Guarantees and Peace Framework

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously announced a meeting of national security advisers from the countries in the “Coalition of the Willing” this week. Prior to this, on December 29 in Florida, negotiations took place between U.S. President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, which lasted over two hours, after which there was a phone call with several European leaders.

As a result of these negotiations, President Zelensky noted that the parties discussed all elements of the peace framework and made significant progress regarding future security guarantees for Ukraine. It was agreed that teams from the U.S. and Ukraine would meet next week to finalize the agreed security issues.

French President Emmanuel Macron also confirmed progress in securing security guarantees, which he stated are key to achieving a fair and sustainable peace. Macron announced that a meeting of representatives from the “Coalition of the Willing” will take place in Paris in early January, during which the contributions of each state to joint initiatives are planned to be finalized.
