Recognition for Supporting Independence and Cooperation

As stated in the document, the award was granted to Andrzej Duda for “outstanding personal merits in strengthening Ukrainian-Polish international cooperation, supporting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”

Volodymyr Zelensky characterized his Polish counterpart as a “reliable ally and true friend” of Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of maintaining and developing partnership relations between the two countries.

“This is undoubtedly the level of relations we want to preserve and strengthen with Poland.”

Future Plans and Development of Defense Cooperation

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of Ukrainian-Polish relations, security issues in the region, as well as possible solutions at the European Union level and cooperation with NATO partners. According to Zelensky, in recent months, the countries have been actively implementing agreements to deepen cooperation in the defense sector. The President of Ukraine expressed hope that the results of the first half of the year would significantly enhance the security positions of both states.

Andrzej Duda’s office reported that during the negotiations, special attention was paid to the situation at the front and the increase in defense spending by NATO countries.

Duda himself emphasized the need to increase defense expenditures to support Ukraine and ensure protection against potential threats in the future. He stressed that “Russian imperialism has revived and poses a danger to the world.”

The President of Poland also noted the achievements of Kyiv and Warsaw in resolving a number of complex issues since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russia in February 2022 and expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian authorities for their steps towards exhumation.

It is worth noting that Andrzej Duda’s term of office is coming to an end. Following the second round of the presidential elections held on June 1, Karol Nawrocki has been elected as the new President of Poland, and he is set to take the oath on August 6. He was supported by the opposition Law and Justice party (PiS).
