Climatologists have recorded significant temperature fluctuations and record precipitation this April. While this month has ranked among the twenty warmest in over 140 years, it also witnessed one of the sharpest cold snaps in recent decades.

According to the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Boris Sreznevsky, the average monthly air temperature in Kyiv was 11.1°C, which is 1.1°C above the climatic norm. Considering historical observations, this allowed April to rank among the twenty warmest months in 145 years.
Record Cold and Hot Days
The coldest date of the month was April 11, when the temperature dropped to -4.1°C, a record low for this date in the last seven years. At the same time, the hottest days were April 23 and 24, when the maximum temperature rose to +27.4°C.
Significant Precipitation in April
The total amount of precipitation during the month was 47 mm, which is 112% of the monthly norm. This also indicates an unstable climate and sharp changes in weather conditions.
“According to the united hydrometeorological station in Kyiv, the average monthly air temperature in April was 11.1°C, which is 1.1°C above the climatic norm. It ranked among the twenty warmest in the 145-year observation record,” the report states.
