Kyiv plans to transform the Lybid River into a modern recreational area, for which a special commission has been created to address the reconstruction and arrangement of the water area.

The Commission Includes Specialists and Community Representatives
The new working group includes representatives from the municipal enterprise “Pleso”, the Department of Environmental Protection, members of the Kyiv City Council, active citizens, and leading experts from the National Union of Architects of Ukraine. In addition to Ukrainian specialists, international architects are also joining the collaboration.
An Architectural Competition to Find the Best Ideas
An important part of the project will be the organization of an architectural competition. Its goal is to select the best concept for the development of the area along the Lybid River. It is expected that the implementation of this initiative will help restore the river’s historical significance and create a comfortable, environmentally safe space for recreation and walking for the residents of Kyiv.
As noted by the municipal enterprise, the joint working group will include representatives from KP “Pleso”, the Department of Environmental Protection, active community members, members of the Kyiv City Council, as well as leading specialists from the National Union of Architects of Ukraine and international architects.
According to the organizers, the initiative aims not only to renew the coastal area but also to grant the Lybid River a new status as one of the key natural sites and recreational zones of the capital.
