Strengthening Sanction Policies and Asset Confiscation
Shmyhal emphasized the need to implement the 18th package of sanctions against Russia, stressing that these measures must be as effective as possible to “increase pressure on the aggressor and force Russia to sit at the negotiating table on the terms of a just peace.”
“We specifically addressed the issue of frozen Russian assets. We are grateful for the launch of the ERA program, which supports our economy. However, this is not enough. It is necessary to find a clear political and legal mechanism for the full confiscation of these assets, with subsequent allocation for the reconstruction of Ukraine and strengthening our and European security,” added the head of government.
Ukraine and Poland: Prospects for Cooperation
The official statement from the Polish President’s press service emphasizes that during the visit, Duda and Shmyhal discussed not only the sanctions pressure on Russia but also the future of Polish-Ukrainian cooperation and the development of bilateral relations.
On the morning of June 28, Andrzej Duda arrived in Kyiv for an official visit, which was an important event for supporting Ukraine from Poland.
It is worth noting that after the second round of presidential elections in Poland, which took place on June 1, the newly elected head of state is Karol Nawrocki. His inauguration is scheduled for August 6. Nawrocki received support from the opposition right-wing party “Law and Justice” (PiS).
